It’s vintage inspired swimwear today ladies, with our final ‘Vintage Britain’ Blog.
Swimwear is probably the most important purchase before any holiday as it’s something that you wear all day long, so you need to be comfortable, supported and still look stylish. All the selected styles have a gorgeous British vintage vibe that conjure up images of the British seaside in days gone by…think brightly coloured beach huts, grand architecture, donkey rides and Punch & Judy. However you don’t have to be holidaying in dear old Blighty to fit in with our vintage theme, our Bravissimo swimwear will look stunning on any beach where the sun is shining, from the Isle of Wight to Ibiza.
The Tropical Paradise Bikini Top by Bravissimo (new from Bravissimo) is a gorgeous floral bikini and very similar to a bikini that Brigitte Bardot wore on the beach in Cannes in 1953. It is available in tropical floral, which will look good on any skin tone. It is available to buy with matching swim tie side or swim briefs and if you require more coverage than the bikini top will provide, there is a Tropical Paradise Tankini Top by Bravissimo too.
The Antigua Bikini Top by Pour Moi in aqua dot is also new, and proving very popular already. It’s another super flattering halterneck which has lightly padded cups. It ties at the neck and the cups are edged with a cute frill. It also features a gorgeous central bow, so along with the polka dots it adds to the vintage look. This bikini top will create great curves while offering good support. It comes with matching swim shorts or swim tie side.
The Beach Belle Tankini by Faubourg has a pretty seaside vintage feel. Available in floral/stripe, this tankini combines fabulous, retro style florals with candy stripes. It is an underwired tankini top, with a concealed bra back fastening. It is available with matching swim briefs or swim shorts. One reviewer comments, “I love it, the design is stunning and the material is very good quality. Can’t wait to go on holiday…”

The start of another working week. if you are on your daily commute this Monday and you find yourself staring at billboards advertising hot destinations, you might find yourself drifting off and daydreaming of sunnier shores, it certainly makes the journey go faster! You may be one of the many UK residents whom have already booked their summer holiday, or you might be one of the lucky ones, going away soon, to search out some winter sun. Even at this time of year there are a few warm destinations not that far away, that are experiencing temperatures in the mid-twenties (sob sob).
Even if your holiday seems like its light years away, it is still difficult not to get a bit excited. Granted, we haven’t even opened our first Easter Egg yet and the Christmas Tree may still be visible behind the shed, but the shops are already full of cotton printed tops, strappy sandals and floaty dresses. There doesn’t seem to be much evidence of winter on our high streets and the same goes for our fashion magazines. It may be only the start of March, but we can still dream and plan our summer getaway and what’s the most important item when you head for the sun…swimwear.
Bravissimo have some fabulous brand new bikinis and swimsuits that have just hit our shops and online store, so take a look at some of our new styles available now. And if you just can’t wait till your holiday, you can always wear it at your local swimming pool, where you will definitely create a few waves.
The Paris Bikini Top by Pureda is absolutely adorable, it is a padded plunge bikini in a cute floral and polka dot print. It has a vintage fifties feel, but manages also to look contemporary, it is available in black with a white spot, combined with red flowers and red ties. The Boogie Bikini Top by Freya is another on trend bikini, it is available in a very vibrant sixties style retro print in Firefly. It is a halterneck top, which always creates amazing cleavage and it is available to buy with some sixties style bikini shorts or tie side briefs if you fancy something with less coverage.
If you want more coverage than a bikini can give you, you could opt for the Veronica Swimsuit by Panache, a really stylish and classic swimsuit, it is super flattering because of ruching detail and it also has a power mesh lining for more tummy control. It is underwired bra top with a keyhole detail at the back and comes in scarlet. This is a really gorgeous swimsuit that will look stylish year after year.

If you haven’t yet been away or if you have a weekend away planned, (somewhere you can eat alfresco without getting drenched!) we can help you find some last minute swimwear bargains in our fantastic Bravissimo sale and also give you some top tips on getting your body buffed and beautiful, so you are happy and confident when you hit the beach.
A couple of days before you go away, book yourself in for a leg and bikini wax, this will give your skin time to heal before you have to start using sun protection or a tanning product. If you feel your skin is too pale and you want a hint of colour before your strip off, then try one of the moisturising tanning body lotions. These products build up colour gradually, they work differently to self tan, and the effect won’t be so dramatic. Because they are more subtle, you won’t be left with orange hands or ankles. Remember to buy one that is suited to your skin tone, they usually come in ‘fair to medium’ and ‘medium to dark’. You can also use this product whilst you’re away, post-shower as a moisturiser, and it will continue to enhance a natural tan.
Body oil is a holiday essential and it will keep your arms and legs wonderfully moisturised, nourished and smooth after a day on the beach (again, use it after a shower). Don’t forget a professional pedicure or manicure, or just get a friend to do it for you. When choosing a nail color, go for something vibrant and summery that will look great against a light tan; tangerine, coral, bright red or fuchsia are good choices, or you could choose something really on trend like turquoise.
Lastly don’t forget your hair, summer hair is actually very easy to look after, just run some conditioner through your hair before you head for the beach and choose an easy style like a ponytail or braid.
So now you are looking beach beautiful, take a look at our pick of the best sale bikinis on offer. It is a soft triangle top with light padding and has two options for bikini bottoms, bikini briefs in blue with a white spot print or a fold brief which are a contrast of white spot print and multi-coloured print.

Last weekend end the clocks ‘sprung’ forward and officially marked the start of British Summer Time. (Hopefully you remembered and were not too confused when your smart phone changed automatically but the regular clocks did not). And boy, what a difference it makes. It’s not quite as light when we wake up which doesn’t make too much difference when we’re bleary eyed until the second caffeine fix at the earliest. What does make a huge difference however is how light the nights are. It’s now light when we get home from work which makes us feel like doing things after work instead of simply slinking into our comfy clothes and staying in. Besides, we stayed in all winter so are ready and raring to make the most of the milder weather and light evenings.
So how will you make the most of the lighter nights? You could arrange to meet up with the friends you haven’t seen for a while and go out for dinner, the lighter nights will make your evening feel extended and not cut them short by everyone wanting to rush home as soon as the sun goes down. You could start a class, evening classes are great for those little things you might always wanted to have tried but never got round to; a new language; a new skill; a cookery course or even a dance class. With all this extra energy buzzing around why not put it to good use? The ever looming summer has started a health kick in the Bravissimo office and at homes and offices up and down the country to get fit for the beach. If you’re not a gym bunny however you can still look fabulous in Bravissimo swimwear with its figure flattering shape and boob boosting features in a range of bikinis, tankinis and swimsuits to suit every style. For a great look on the beach without the strict diet and extreme exercise regime!
