Not all parents think of a bra for their teenager daughters when pulling together the shopping list for Back to School. Normally high up the list is the blazer and school skirt or trousers.
A good fitting bra can make all that difference to the look of the uniform and the confidence of the young girl. If a girl is particularly booby why not invest in a Pepperberry shirt – shaped enough so the buttons don’t pull but in a standard high street size, adjusted depending on how much boob room is needed. There are a couple of white shirts currently in the pepperberry sale
A moulded seamfree T-Shirt bra is a great option for underneath a school shirt. For example Bravissimo girls rave about the comfort of the Porcelain bra by Panache as it’s seamless it gives great shape under plain shirts, tops and dresses. A moulded cup provides some modesty to ensure there’s no embarrassments.
Another consideration for school is a sports bra. Whilst this might seem like an expensive option for the uniform if high impact sports are involved it’s essential that a good fitting sports bra is worn.
There are no muscles in your boobs, and without a good sports bra they will bounce during exercise. This is not only uncomfortable, but can also lead to your boobs having less uplift in the long run. As the bounce factor is considerably higher for women with bigger boobs, we need extra support when we exercise, for the comfort and protection of our assets!
The Panache underwired sports bra has been rated as 4.5 out of 5 for comfort, support and shape.

This is the time of year when we bare more flesh, we tend to wax more, use fake tan and moisturize more often. We also might get a bit braver with our clothes and colour choices. The usual grey trousers and black top combo swapped for vibrant patterned maxi dress and fuchsia cardi. We are not so afraid to step out in colour in the summer months and that seems to follow through to our lingerie choices too, white, black and flesh tones are replaced by bright, punchy and ‘in your face’ colours.
If you are not yet a convert of bright lingerie, read on…Vibrant colour gives you an instant lift when you wear it, it’s flattering for all skin tones with or without a tan, a coloured bra strap showing through a top, can coordinate with your outfit and look stylish. And if you ever need to strip off in public, you will look utterly gorgeous in your coloured set. Bravissimo have some amazing new brights in our collection that will definitely make you feel more Bollywood then Brentwood. Take a look at some of our favourite sets.
The Linear Rose Bra by Bravissimo is an underwired full cup and is based on the Melrose shape that our Bravissimo ladies love! This bra will offer you more coverage and great support. The Thea Bra by Bravissimo is available in zesty lemon and it comes with matching briefs or thong. It is an underwired plunge and is simple, but really pretty and will give you a lovely rounded shape and also a bit of uplift. Our reviewers already love this bra for its firm fit, gorgeous shape and comfort. One reviewer described it as ‘Sunshine on a rainy day’.
The Tanzania Stripe Bra by Bravissimo is a fabulous looking bra, it is an underwired half cup, and is available in teal/iris in contrasted animal print. It is based on the Demi Diva and Rococo Charm and creates a lovely shape and amazing uplift, a really stunning set and it’s available with shorts or a thong.
We have mentioned the Mai Blossom Bra by Bravissimo before, but it definitely deserves another mention, as it is so vibrant in this Red/Mango print. The Mai Blossom is an underwired balconette and offers super fit and great support. It is available with shorts or thong. Our reviewers love it, for its comfort and shape, one customer commented, “Possibly the most comfortable bra I’ve ever had – no lace under the boobs to irritate, the fabric is really soft”.

Happy Sunday Ladies! Are you planning a lazy day today or an energetic day? Some of our Bravissimo ladies maybe joining the 40,000 people that are taking part in the Bupa Great Manchester Run. If so, those of us that are still in our Bravissimo pyjamas and are watching it on the box take our hats off to you, as all of you are raising money for much needed causes.
The run is a 10k run, which starts at Portland Street and finishes at Deansgate, for those of you that know Manchester. It was first held in May 2003 and was created as a legacy event following The Commonwealth Games in 2002 and it’s growing in size and stature each year. Actors, presenters, musicians and politicians will all be doing their bit and many brave people who are living with on-going conditions and disabilities will be running too.
Running is an easy sport to take up if you want to get fit. You can start with power walking and gradually move onto running if you haven’t exercised for a while. You don’t need any expensive equipment, just a good pair of trainers and a great sports bra to stop that boob bounce (see below). If you would like to take part in a similar event, there are lots Bupa 5k and 10k runs dotted around the UK. Here’s a list of upcoming events:
- The Bupa Great North 10k, Gateshead, 22nd July
- The Bupa Great Yorkshire Run, Sheffield, 2nd September
- The Bupa Great North Run, Newcastle, 16th September
- The Bupa Great Edinburgh Run, 7th October
- The Bupa Great Birmingham Run, 21st October
- The Bupa Great South Run, Southsea, Portsmouth, 27th, 28th October
- The Great Winter Run, Edinburgh, 5th January

This is an underwired full cup with double lined cups, with no seams to prevent rubbing while you are exercising. This is our first underwired sports bra to go up to a K-cup. It is available in black and white.
The Panache Sports Bra by Panache, is an underwired moulded cup available in storm, black or white, and it has a clip to convert it to a racerback. Since Bravissimo hit the high streets, there have been plenty of our bras that consistently receive fantastic reviews from fans and we feel they are worth shouting about, as they seem to have made such a difference to our ladies’ lives.
These bras stand out not only because they give amazing shape and make clothes look fantastic, but also because they are still comfortable and supportive which we all know is THE winning combination.
One of our superstar bras is the best selling Alana Bra by Bravissimo. This bra has been used by the one and only Gok Wan at one of his recent roadshows and we know how he feels about finding the right bra, before you even move on to the outfit! Our in-store Bravissimo fitters love this bra and probably use it the most during fittings because of the gorgeous shape it creates, plus the super fit and support. For an everyday bra it is pretty and is available in so many colours you will be spoilt for choice. The Alana, is an underwired balconette and in sizes DD-G cups it has a 2 hook fastening and in GG-L, 3 hooks. A selection of the positive comments about The Alana, have included, “The fit is true to size”, “It creates the best shape”, “Highly recommended for everyday wear”, and “Is very, very comfortable”“.
Another one of our amazing performers is the Deco Bra by Freya, because we know how much our Bravissimo ladies rave about this bra. This gorgeous bra is now newly available in graphite, with a pretty mother of pearl button detail, this is a perfect buy for autumn. It is a moulded plunge, which is perfect for close fitting tops. It also creates fantastic cleavage, so when you want to go for a sexier look with a lower cut top, maybe for an evening out, the Deco would be a great choice. This is some of the great feedback we have received about the Deco bra, “The Deco is absolutely the best moulded bra there is”, “I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to find it”, “It’s true to size, supportive and so comfortable!”, and “Fabulous fit-great cleavage”.

Spots are a very wearable trend and do a good job of injecting some fun into everyday fashion. They are easy to accessorise too, if you opt for a shirt or blouse with a printed spot, then plain trousers, jeans or a pencil skirt will look great. If you choose a spotty dress, then you have lots of options, you could choose a fitted cardigan, in a vibrant colour and match with tan boots and tan bag. Or you could wear with a blazer in denim, a suit jacket, or a belted Mac. A spotty dress is easy to dress up or down, so can be worn day or night.
If you like spots but are not too sure about throwing yourself into the trend wholeheartedly, then you could try wearing it as an accent, in the form or a scarf – try the Spotty Scarf by Pepperberry.
Or if you are still not convinced, Bravissimo have some fabulous new dotty lingerie that is utterly desirable. Check out the gorgeous Crystal Bra by Freya, if you are a fan of the deco bra, you are going to love this one, it creates amazing uplift and cleavage and will give you an enviable shape. It is available in teal, with white spot. The matching shorts are really lovely, a must if you are going to buy this bra.
Also new and exclusive from Bravissimo, is the Dotty Spotty Bra by Bravissimo, this bra is so gorgeous, it must be shown off. It has a real 50’s starlet look and is finished with the cute bow detail in the centre. It is available in two colourways, aqua/red and black/café (which is our new colour for autumn). This bra is slightly fuller than a normal balconette, but it is still a very supportive fit. This bra is available to buy with briefs or shorts, for that added cute factor, the shorts have a cheeky little pocket on the back.

The fashion industry had a very hard task this week. They had to carry on with the catwalk shows of New York Fashion Week and the business of fashion – which can seem frivolous at the best of times – whilst the city is remembering 9/11 and marking the 10 year anniversary of those lost. A very sad day, but the shows went on.
Victoria Beckham’s was one of the shows that took place, she has had an extra busy time of late, only just having had baby Harper, who accompanied her (of course) but she still managed to produce an accomplished collection for spring/summer 2012. Short shift dresses featured and body con fitted dresses that finish mid calf with cut away vest tops, racer backs and exposed zips. She showed parkers and voluminous kimono jackets in heavy silk satins. The collection is simple, chic with more than a look of sportswear about it.
Alexander Wang’s spring/summer collection also was inspired by sportswear, although he took his inspiration from tougher sports like Motorcross. Wang used high shine, waterproof fabrics, and leather. He also showcased the exposed zip and used chevron and monochrome prints. Peter Som’s catwalk show featured 1960s inspired tiny shorts, mini dresses and short shirt dresses. All in neons and acids brights, like citrus yellow, turquoise and bright corals. We also saw him use clashing sixties prints.
So what does all this mean in terms of lingerie for next spring/summer? Well, we can expect to be a bit more adventurous with colour, we will be seeing more neon brights and electric colours like our Melody Full Cup Bra by Panache in electric blue. We may see more large, sixties inspired floral prints, moving away from the small ditsy print of this year. There will definitely be a move towards a sportier look for bras. We are not talking about sports bras here, there will be a different sportier shape, but using gorgeous vibrant colours and prints in silky fabrics to keep that feminine look.

We suggest a bit of retail therapy with a good friend. Why not go and check out the new autumn collections on the high street? A new frock could be on the cards or a couple of going out tops or maybe a fantastic new pair of boots. If you ladies haven’t made too much of a dent in your purse by lunchtime, head to a restaurant and treat yourselves to a delicious lunch, then after a cheeky glass of something sparkly, and you will be ready to face the shops again. Don’t forget to visit Bravissimo and take a look at our new lingerie styles for autumn.
More highlights from the autumn range, firstly the new Elodie Bra by Fantasie. This is a really pretty, feminine, but still sexy bra, it has side seams that pull you in and push you forward, creating a gorgeous rounded shape. The front has a higher centre and it has a fuller cup, so still offers fantastic support for your boobs, and in sexy black, this is a perfect bra for the weekend.
The Poppy Bra by Cleo in charcoal is just gorgeous. It is really on trend with the lovely poppy print and in the new rich & warm colourway of charcoal, coral and orange, and it’s certain to be a real favourite this autumn. It is a half cup, so can be worn with lower necklines and is lightly padded giving wonderful shape. It comes with matching briefs, or if you prefer, a thong.
Laden with your bags, including your brand new buys from Bravissimo. Why not take the weight off your feet and enjoy large cappuccinos and a slice of something sweet, (to share of course). A perfect way to end the day. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
