In 2011 the one piece is enjoying a revival and has become sexy again. The swimsuit is also a lot more flattering if your tummy is not as flat as it once was. Lets face it, whether it’s a post-baby belly or normal weight gain that comes with age, a perfectly flat stomach is hard to achieve and a swimsuit can hide a multitude of sins. Bravissimo have got some fabulous swimsuits this season, one that definitely deserves a mention is Soprano Swimsuit by Hoola Swimwear. You will look drop dead gorgeous in this on the beach, it comes in coral and white pinstripes and has that 1950’s shape that is so on trend right now. The vertical stripes are very flattering and the halterneck straps give great uplift, and fantastic cleavage. Get it before it goes! And don’t forget to check out Bravissimo’s other swimsuits right here.

Whatever the weather at Glastonbury (last year very sunny, 2007 the wettest on record, this year starting wet, but will dry up, fingers crossed) the festival is THE place to do some people watching and it’s a fantastic opportunity to check out some amazing fashion. Looking good at a festival is an art, it has to look effortless and you have to be prepared for rain & shine.
So if our Bravissimo girls are heading to any of this summer’s festivals, here is your definitive guide to what to wear and what to bring. Pepperberry have some great festival fashion, the Crinkle Tiered Dress in orange is the perfect festival dress and will look great with a pair of posh Hunter wellies. Don’t forget your shorts, like Pepperberry’s Button Front Short in navy, they also look really cute with a pair of wellies, (and navy won’t show the mud). The Viscose Floral Scarf just screams Glastonbury, and a scarf is a pretty handy piece of clothing at a festival, it will keep your neck warm at night when there is a nip in the air, it will also protect you from the sun, if it gets too hot. The Long Shell Necklace has that hippy vibe and will complete your festival outfit.
Other Essential Items:
Long socks, (there is nothing worse than short socks disappearing into the depths of your wellies)
Small purse or bag, that you can wear across the body
Wellies (don’t bother with any other kind of footwear)
Waterproof jacket with hood
And don’t forget your toothbrush (you never know who you might kiss)

So Bravissimo are here to help, we have lined up some copycat beachwear at a much more sensible price. These items are sure to stand up against Mrs Rooney’s for style and quality and they will also flatter and support our bigger boobs.
The bikini that Coleen wore on day three of her holiday, looks like it could be by the famous designer Emilio Pucci, the Mystere Plunge Bikini Top by Freya and matching tie briefs, (you can also buy the bikini shorts if you want more coverage) have that Pucci feel, with the vibrant paisley print. This bikini has had great reviews with our Bravissimo ladies, as it offers fantastic uplift and is incredibly flattering. She also wore a black bikini with gold detail on day two, by an American swimwear label, a favourite with celebrities, for a similar bikini try Bravissimo’s Anna Bikini Top by Panache, it’s the popular Geneva shape, with a new matt finish and is underwired, it also comes with three different styles of matching bikini bottoms.
Coleen also loved to wear a Kaftan or two while she was in Barbados. Kaftans are a really chic way to cover up and, they no longer look like they should belong in the seventies. For a really glam Kaftan, try the Beaded Kaftan by Bravissimo, it comes in a gorgeous coral colour, is made of cotton so it will keep you cool and, is decorated with coral colour gems and gold beading, just perfect!

So this week saw one of the biggest nights in the ‘oh no not more TV awards’ calendar, the Soap Awards. However we love The Soap Awards here at Bravissimo, firstly because they look like they are having a right giggle and secondly because the fashion is so much more accessible than other big awards ceremonies like The Baftas or The Oscars. Yes, we love those events because of the sheer glamour and star quality, but our favourite soap stars dressing up to the nines for the night is much more fun. So let’s look at who got it very right on the night and who needs to sack the stylist.
Katherine Kelly (Becky from Corrie) looked stunning in a grey and yellow one-shouldered draped dress with a high split.
Jennifer Metcalfe (Mercedes from Hollyoaks) wore a black pantsuit, it was definitely show stopping but a bit too revealing, the trousers were too wide and too short, they would have looked more elegant, had they been tapered and longer.
Jessie Wallace (Kat in Eastenders) looked very glamorous in a white flowing, Grecian inspired dress with an encrusted jewelled neckpiece. Her accessories, makeup and hair, fit perfectly with the dress, nicely understated for such a statement dress.
Alison King (Carla in Corrie), wore a long tunic style kaftan, it wasn’t the best choice, Alison has got a great figure and this dress was shapeless and hid her body, it also looked quite beachy.
Shobna Gulati (Sunita in Corrie) should probably get another stylist, this outfit looked like she was attending a fancy dress party as a flamenco dancer! The tulle skirt was too big and fussy, the bolero looked like a bad eighties mistake and the pink shoes were not needed.
Jo Joyner (Tanya in EastEnders) hit the right note and wore a simple black fitted wrap body con dress, which flattered her bigger boobs brilliantly, she accessorised it with nude heels and gold clutch, her hair was just left natural and tousled and she looked radiant with a light tan.
If you’re attending a glitzy event this summer, and want to get the right look, browse our Pepperberry Evening Dress range and you’ll be sure to add a touch of elegance to the occasion.

This weekend is Mother’s Day so why not treat you mum to a bra fitting by Bravissimo? As girls and young women growing up it was often our mothers who took us for our first ever bra fitting and some women still feel that same amount of dread when going for bra fittings now. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Here at Bravissimo we understand that many women feel conscious about their bra size that’s why we have specially trained fitters who will do their best to make anyone that is coming for a fitting feel at ease. Our emphasis is on fit and comfort and not on the sizes themselves. We want women of all ages and sizes to be wearing a bra that supports them correctly, is comfortable and stylish.
So why not repay your mum with a bra shopping trip? Our boobs fluctuate in shape and size throughout our lives so it’s important to monitor these changes and adjust your bra size so that you are getting the right amount of support. You can check out our Perfect Fit Guide but why not come into one of our branches and make the most of our expert fitters’ knowledge and experience. Throw in lunch and you’ve got a fab day out for you and your mum!

Last weekend end the clocks ‘sprung’ forward and officially marked the start of British Summer Time. (Hopefully you remembered and were not too confused when your smart phone changed automatically but the regular clocks did not). And boy, what a difference it makes. It’s not quite as light when we wake up which doesn’t make too much difference when we’re bleary eyed until the second caffeine fix at the earliest. What does make a huge difference however is how light the nights are. It’s now light when we get home from work which makes us feel like doing things after work instead of simply slinking into our comfy clothes and staying in. Besides, we stayed in all winter so are ready and raring to make the most of the milder weather and light evenings.
So how will you make the most of the lighter nights? You could arrange to meet up with the friends you haven’t seen for a while and go out for dinner, the lighter nights will make your evening feel extended and not cut them short by everyone wanting to rush home as soon as the sun goes down. You could start a class, evening classes are great for those little things you might always wanted to have tried but never got round to; a new language; a new skill; a cookery course or even a dance class. With all this extra energy buzzing around why not put it to good use? The ever looming summer has started a health kick in the Bravissimo office and at homes and offices up and down the country to get fit for the beach. If you’re not a gym bunny however you can still look fabulous in Bravissimo swimwear with its figure flattering shape and boob boosting features in a range of bikinis, tankinis and swimsuits to suit every style. For a great look on the beach without the strict diet and extreme exercise regime!

It’s not quite been a week yet but we’re already seriously craving the things we have given up. You may, like us, have eaten enough sugary stuff on Pancake Day to last the whole 46 days of Lent but sometimes denying ourselves something only makes us want it more! That’s why a reward is needed to keep us all going and to give us a light at the end of the tunnel to look forward to.
If you gave up shopping then firstly you’re much stronger than we are here at the Bravissimo office, secondly you might want to think of a reward that you can focus on to keep your motivation up. This will also give you time to think about the things you want to buy and if after 46 days you still can’t get that pair of shoes out of your head then you should treat yourself to them! If the feeling passes however then you’ll know you made the right decision and will have saved yourself a few pounds. Why not treat a loved one too? If you have a friend or family member who really deserves a treat, be it a post Lent treat or not, why not give them a Bravissimo gift voucher? That way they get to choose what they spend it on and you will be known as the kind thoughtful one!
If you’ve decided to give up chocolate, sweet things or other food stuffs that are generally bad for your health then you’ll probably be in the same boat as us (seriously craving them). Why not plan a spa day for some serious post Lent pampering? Not that we need an excuse some for some R&R but not eating chocolate for 46 days is quite a feat and a treat that doesn’t involve making up the calories will be far more rewarding.
Good luck, only another 40 days to go!

As daffodils start to appear and we count down the days until the clocks go forward and British Summer Time officially begins (27th March) we’re fancying a new do to see in the new season. And boy are there some interesting styles to choose from…
- Colourful; we’ve done the statement colour look with our make-up and even worn clashing colours, or at least attempted to wear more colour with a brightly coloured handbag. But this season it’s all about making a statement with your hair colour. The dip-dye effect has been popular on the catwalk and has filtered down to the main stream with extreme versions (blonde hair with bright pink ends) and less extreme versions (brown hair with blonde highlights in the lower section of hair as opposed to starting from the roots). The most popular full head colour has to be red and we have the fabulous Christina Hendricks to thank for that! So how daring will you be?
- Frizzy crimp; a popular style on the catwalks for spring summer this look works particularly well with the season’s 70s styled hats. If you have naturally curly hair up the volume with hairspray to create a soft wispy finish. Those with straight hair will need to add volume by curling, crimping and even back combing. When worn with a hat the style can afford to be bigger and bolder than normal so that the texture is seen from underneath the brim. Finish the look with this fabulous Scoop Neck Jersey top and bootcut or flared jeans.
- Loose waves; summer style often includes laid back outfits like easy summer dresses and bo-ho styles that are perfectly accentuated by big loose curls or waves. Brunettes can even go for a few subtle highlights to distinguish the texture further.
- Undone bun; the messy up do was another hot look on the catwalk and can be easily achieved by spraying the hair and creating texture before you style. Up dos look great when a dress or top has an interesting neckline as it showcases the detail and doesn’t hide it under layers of hair. We think up dos are underrated as they keep our hair from getting in the way, and don’t require washing and styling everyday, plus this season’s relaxed styles means no need for perfection, hurray for up dos!

The 83rd Academy Awards took place last night at a swanky Hollywood venue and the stars were out in force. Amazingly British film The King’s Speech took home four awards; Colin Firth won yet another Best Actor Award for his trophy cabinet the film also won Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. The Brits notoriously don’t do that well at the Oscars however Firth and crew proved that with the right film and the right cast, even die hard American film fans cannot deny the sheer brilliance of a film that captured the hearts of film goers everywhere. The States’ interest and intrigue with the Royal family might have helped somewhat with the popularity of the film across the pond but for us it was the sincerity of the performances and the strength of both the fabulous cast and storyline that did it for us
We were also pleased that Natalie Portman won Best Actress for Black Swan as we think the film was stunning and no-one can deny Portman’s dedication to a role. She looked great too in a gorgeous floor length aubergine dress and had that pregnancy glow that no amount of Hollywood make-up can recreate. Christian Bale took home Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Fighter and Melissa Leo won Best Supporting Actress for the same film. Other winners of the evening were The Social Network that won Best Adapted Screenplay and Toy Story 3 for Best Animated Film.
Watching the Oscars made us realise all the great films that we wanted to go and see but never got round to. Why not plan an Oscar night of your own? Get your friends together for a night of film watching, cocktail drinking, glamorous red carpet worthy dresses and then head out for a night on the town. You could get dressed up and go to the cinema or wait until the films come out on DVD and have an Oscar winner’s film marathon of must see films; Black Swan, The King’s Speech, The Social Network, The Fighter and for the big kids, Toy Story 3.
Don’t forget the red carpet worthy dress;
1- The 50s Wrapover dress is simple and elegant, we love it because it can be transformed from day to evening with plenty of jewellery and striking make-up. Wear this dress with high heels, killer arm candy and red lipstick for a glamorous 1950s look.
2- Make a chic statement in the Nock Neck Shift Dress and add a splash of colour to your evening. We think this dress will look fabulous with statement earrings like Natalie Portman’s tassel drop earrings she wore to the Oscars to complement her purple dress.
3- No need for statement jewellery with the Crinkle Chiffon Dress as the embellished hem and sleeves on this dress will do all the talking! Wear with metallic heels and clutch bag.

Celebrating all that is great about British music (with the odd award for international artists) the 2011 Brit Awards took place last night and we take a look at who won what and more importantly, who wore what.
Who won what?
We were very happy that Take That won Best Group, an award they were also nominated for in 1993, however, with the help of Robbie they picked up the very well deserved prize 17 years later! They just keep getting better and we cannot wait for the tour. Mumford and Sons took home the Best Album award and for any of you who have seen them live will understand why, although their performance on the night was quieter than usual, a great band though and one we look forward to seeing more of this year.
Tinie Tempah received two awards; Best British Breakthrough Act and Best Single for ‘Pass Out’. Plan B took home Best British Male Solo Artist and Laura Marling took the female equivalent. If you haven’t heard of Laura Marling we’d describe her as the female version of Mumford and Sons, only there’s just one of her. Jessie J took home Critic’s Choice and the seemingly tough girl showed her soft side with a tearful speech. Cheryl Cole handed the Best International Female Award to Rihanna (there were no surprises there) and Cee Lo Green took the International Award for Best Male. Arcade Fire, a band that have proved to be very popular in the UK won Best International Album and fellow Canadian Justin Beiber scooped Best International Breakthrough Act.
Who wore what?
There were frights as well as delights on the red carpet of the Brit Awards; the frights mainly belonged to Jessie J who appeared in a very short, very shiny green dress and Rihanna who turned up looking like the dolly our Grandma used to have covering the loo roll wearing a very poufy dress. Cheryl Cole kept it glamorous with a sequined backless number and Katherine Jenkins looked simply stunning in her green floral strapless number. Adele looked elegant and classy in a ladylike black dress with beading detail and her performance proved that Britain has got real talent; she was simply stunning in every sense of the word.
Why not take a leaf out of Katherine Jenkin’s book and rock a floral print now. Our Woven Jersey Wrap dress has a jersey top perfect for adding comfort whilst the cotton print skirt will add structure and definition to your silhouette. Or go for full on glamour with the Sequinned Maxi Dress, maxis are big news this season and this dress will add sophistication whether worn on a red carpet or for a glam night out with the girls.
