For many of us a holiday is the one time we can relax with a book so choosing the right one is important. Most of us grab the opportunity when we can to read, trying to squeeze it in to our busy lives, but on our holiday we can immerse ourselves completely in a good book. So do you want to challenge yourself with a complex plot or chill out with something light? The choice is yours.
Some people will choose a holiday book set in the location they’re visiting or written by a local author; others want to read something big as a holiday is when they have the time to get through it; others, meanwhile, will stick with tried and tested genres they know they enjoy. Remember to get the best holiday reading experience you need to finish the book whilst on holiday.
Whatever you choose, a holiday book is always a bit special. Reading a good novel in a beautiful location can mean you remember exactly where you read it for a long time, possibly even forever. A good holiday book is the perfect way to make your holiday experience truly complete.
These are some of the bestselling books of this summer so far.
Top of the list is Harper Lee’s long-awaited, Go Set a Watchman, set in the 1950’s and featuring some of the characters from her previous novel, the classic To Kill a Mockingbird.
L. James has repeated her success of 2012 with her fourth book, Grey. This time the story is told from the point of view of Christian Grey.
The Girl on the Train – This debut novel from Paula Hawkins is a thriller with many twists and turns and a best seller for this summer.
Us by David Nicholls is the follow up to the incredibly successful One Day. So is it as good? This one is different, a bit darker, but an easy read and a perfect holiday book.
We would love to hear about your favourite holiday books and your memories of where you read them. Also, do share with us the way you choose your holiday books and anything good you have read this summer in the comments.

Before you even start thinking about buying your swim set (we have some fantastic styles for you this summer but we will come back to this!), the choice of where to spend your precious holiday has to be made. You might want to jet off to somewhere hot and with guaranteed sunshine or you might be thinking about a staycation, visiting one of the most beautiful beaches that we have here in the UK.
So where do you start? Here at Bravissimo we’ve looked at the most beautiful beaches from around the world, whether you’re looking to relax or something more energetic. Here are a few favourites.
One of the most beautiful beaches in the world is Waikiki, Honolulu in Hawaii. With a near perfect climate the beach is great for sunbathing and also renowned for fantastic surfing. Check out our Hawaiian inspired bikini Waikiki & Honolulu styles – named after the beautiful beaches.
A bit nearer than Hawaii is Portugal which has some amazing beaches. Try Praia da Falesia, one of the longest beaches in Portugal, which you will find located between Vilamoura and Albufeira. The location is stunning beneath the orange/red cliffs – perfect for peace and quiet! Make sure you stand out in our Cape Verde bikini!
Nearer still is St Ives in Cornwall. No flight needed for this one but still an absolutely stunning location in one of the trendiest seaside towns in the UK. Foodies can check out the award winning seafood restaurant, Porthminster Beach Café, after a day of sunbathing, or there’s water sports for the more active. Look fantastic whether relaxing or bathing in our Aqua coloured Portofino swimsuit.
For traditional seaside fun Filey beach in North Yorkshire is hard to beat.
With its historical promenade and beautiful beach huts there’s plenty of choice for relaxing and if you fancy a change, rock pooling is a popular activity. Stun them in Filey this summer with our flattering Minnie swimsuit.
We’ve given you a few different ideas but, of course, what you really need is the best fitting swimwear so that you can enjoy your beach holiday to the full. Whether you choose a halter neck for great uplift and super shape or are looking for a balconette or bandeau style to give you a bit more coverage we have lots of great bikinis to choose from. Prefer a swimsuit? We have plenty of those too.

We all look forward all to a well-deserved break and chill out and many will spend all year focused on those precious days in the sun!
You have chosen and bought your beautiful new holiday swimwear and this is one of the best bits about going away. If you haven’t found your perfect swim set yet we’ve just had some new styles arrive.
Next you need to think about what happens when you get your lovely self to the beach. When you step out into the sand on that first day we know you will be feeling good, but we also want to be sure that our customers stay safe from the sun.
Whether you’re hitting a beautiful beach in the Med or one of our lovely beaches in the UK, the sun can be just as strong. The last thing you want to happen is to get sunburnt so here are a few simple beach tips to make sure this doesn’t happen.
- Use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 and a UVA filter of five stars
- Make sure your sun cream is not past its expiry date – most have a shelf life of just 2-3 years
- Apply regularly (at least every 2 hours) and after you swim
- Try and stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm
- Protect your eyes with sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat (this will help keep the sun off your face and hair too)
And don’t forget your hair needs extra care when on the beach. An simple updo (clip or a bun) or cover up (hat or scarf) is ideal; this way the sun can’t reach the ends of your hair, which are older and will be quicker to dry out. Extra conditioning will help keep the moisture in your hair and if you for added UV protection you can use a sunscreen diluted with water before you swim or sunbathe.
Follow these beach tips and have a beautiful and safe holiday this summer and if you are getting away on a last minute break check out our Summer swimwear sale and grab a bargain!

There are so many gorgeous styles, prints and colours to choose from this summer, but which ones to choose and take on the big summer holiday?
Find your bikini style with our perfect bikini fit style guide for summer 2015:
A halter neck is always a suitcase essential. The straps are easily untied at the neck so you don’t get any dreaded tanning lines while lying down and this style will give you great uplift and a natural shape. Whether you’re just relaxing in your bikini by the pool or throwing over a beach dress, your boobs will be fully supported and still look great!
A Bandeau bikini teamed with a higher waisted brief is a super stylish look this season and will offer a bit more coverage than a typical bikini style or a little less coverage than a Taniki . Our bandeau styles also come with detachable straps if you’re after a bit more support and uplift.
A plunge bikini cuts lower and gives you a natural plunging shape. If you’re after show stopping cleavage opt for a halterneck plunge bikini – your boobs will still be fully supported with the underwired cups and look totally amazing.
A Balconette bikini offers a bit more coverage while giving you a similar look and feel that you are used to from your lingerie sets. You can adjust the straps to sit where is comfortable to lift your boobs – Florence, Medina & Hattie are all perfect styles if you like a bikini to fit more like your bra.
All of our bikinis are underwired, but depending on the level of support you want make sure to choose the right shape and straps for you. You may find you are a slightly different size in swimwear when compared to lingerie, and you can look and feel different depending on the style.
If you are unsure about which size or style to choose, just pop into one of our stores for a free fitting and we promise you’ll leave looking great and feeling amazing and ready for your summer holiday.
That’s our quick guide to getting the perfect bikini fit this summer. With the above four styles, you will be prepared for almost any bikini-need on holiday! What do you think, is there a style we missed? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
