Suits You Madam

Soprano Swimsuit by Hoola Swimwear

Soprano Swimsuit by Hoola Swimwear

There’s some great news this summer for us ladies, the swimsuit is back. The poor old swimsuit has had a tough time in the last few years, it has had to compete with its sassy little sister, the bikini. Up until recently the choice has not been great, you were ok if you wanted to buy a functional swimsuit for serious swimming at the pool or your other option was the safe slimming black number, but there wasn’t much else out there on the high street.

In 2011 the one piece is enjoying a revival and has become sexy again. The swimsuit is also a lot more flattering if your tummy is not as flat as it once was. Lets face it, whether it’s a post-baby belly or normal weight gain that comes with age, a perfectly flat stomach is hard to achieve and a swimsuit can hide a multitude of sins. Bravissimo have got some fabulous swimsuits this season, one that definitely deserves a mention is Soprano Swimsuit by Hoola Swimwear. You will look drop dead gorgeous in this on the beach, it comes in coral and white pinstripes and has that 1950’s shape that is so on trend right now. The vertical stripes are very flattering and the halterneck straps give great uplift, and fantastic cleavage. Get it before it goes! And don’t forget to check out Bravissimo’s other swimsuits right here.

Mystere Plunge Bikini Top

Mystere Plunge Bikini Top

Coleen Rooney has been snapped this week soaking up the rays on holiday in Barbados (we know what you’re thinking, when is she not on holiday?). The reason she has hit the headlines, is because she reportedly has spent £1,500 on beachwear. Well maybe some celebrities can justify spending that amount of money, as they probably spend most of their year on a far-flung beach, but for us mere mortals, we want to look great, without the hefty designer price tag.

So Bravissimo are here to help, we have lined up some copycat beachwear at a much more sensible price. These items are sure to stand up against Mrs Rooney’s for style and quality and they will also flatter and support our bigger boobs.

The bikini that Coleen wore on day three of her holiday, looks like it could be by the famous designer Emilio Pucci, the Mystere Plunge Bikini Top by Freya and matching tie briefs, (you can also buy the bikini shorts if you want more coverage) have that Pucci feel, with the vibrant paisley print. This bikini has had great reviews with our Bravissimo ladies, as it offers fantastic uplift and is incredibly flattering. She also wore a black bikini with gold detail on day two, by an American swimwear label, a favourite with celebrities, for a similar bikini try Bravissimo’s Anna Bikini Top by Panache, it’s the popular Geneva shape, with a new matt finish and is underwired, it also comes with three different styles of matching bikini bottoms.

Coleen also loved to wear a Kaftan or two while she was in Barbados. Kaftans are a really chic way to cover up and, they no longer look like they should belong in the seventies. For a really glam Kaftan, try the Beaded Kaftan by Bravissimo, it comes in a gorgeous coral colour, is made of cotton so it will keep you cool and, is decorated with coral colour gems and gold beading, just perfect!

The Electric Zebra Bikini

The Electric Zebra Bikini

The whole of the country seemed to be under a black cloud this weekend, you wouldn’t believe that we are in the middle of ‘flaming June’. So if like us, you are counting the days until you land on foreign soil, we have a few bikinis to get you in the holiday mood. There is one to suit every shape, size and taste. And if you are feeling extravagant, you could invest in more than one and rotate them, so you will always be looking ultra cool by the pool.

Are you partial to a bright floral print? The Flamingo Halter Bikini by Freya, really stands out among the crowds, it’s a red & yellow floral print with black & white dotty frill, and ties on the bikini bottoms that contrast well. It is halterneck in style, which allows you to alter the amount of uplift you create and it gives fantastic cleavage. It is definitely a bikini to salsa in, as the sun sets on the beach.

If prints are not your thing, Bravissimo have plenty of plain coloured bikinis. New in recently is the gorgeous Siesta Bikini by Bravissimo in fabulous ultra violet. This is an underwired plunge bikini, with fully adjustable straps, and will give you great shape. You also have the option of the fold brief, which is a fuller brief (one side tie), or the tie brief (two side ties). You could even buy the Sunkissed Bikini by Bravissimo in coral, which is a similar bikini. Try a bit of colour blocking, by swapping around the bikini tops and bottoms and you have four different colour combinations from two bikinis, can’t be bad!

Finally, if you like to take a walk on the wild side, try the Electric Zebra Bikini by Miss Mandalay, this bikini has more than a whiff of Ibiza about it, with its dip dyed zebra print. It is underwired and halterneck, again creating an enviable cleavage. There is also a choice of matching bikini or tie-side bottoms.

So whatever your perfect holiday is, whether that is island hopping on a budget in Greece or pushing the boat out in St Tropez, you will be sure to find the perfect bikini at Bravissimo.

Wish You Were Here

Wish You Were Here Swimsuit

Wish You Were Here Swimsuit

Great Britain tends to come alive when the weather is good. Previously grey rainy towns take on a different personality when the sun has got his hat on. Cities have that Mediterranean feel, with al fresco dining and green spaces which are full with people enjoying themselves and lounging in the sunshine. Britain has some of the most fantastic beaches too, with great expanses of golden sands and clear blue sea, they really are worth a visit or holiday. Some of them recently have been awarded Blue Flag Status, which means the water is very clean, so great for swimming (ok they could be a wee bit nippy). So if you are ‘staycationing’ this year, or you fancy a weekend away with no airports involved, why not try a few of the best beaches that the UK has got to offer. There are plenty up and down the country, so you should find one local to you.

Some of our favourites are Aberdour Silver Sands in Fife, Whitley Bay in the North East, Scarborough North Bay in Yorkshire, Mablethorpe beach in Lincolnshire, Clacton on Sea & Martello Bay in Essex, West Wittering Beach in West Sussex, Sandbanks Peninsular in Dorset and Abersoch in Wales.

If you want to look postcard perfect then don’t forget to pack your Bravissimo swimsuit, you will look fabulous in the Wish You Were Here Swimsuit by Letters from Evie. It has that fifties look, which is very on trend this summer, featuring a halter neck but also can be worn strapless and it has hidden tummy control. You could accessorise with white jeans, a little cardi and pumps for later in afternoon. Check out more Blue Flag Beaches at http://www.blueflag.org/

What a difference a daylight saving makes

British Summer Time begins!

British Summer Time begins!

Last weekend end the clocks ‘sprung’ forward and officially marked the start of British Summer Time. (Hopefully you remembered and were not too confused when your smart phone changed automatically but the regular clocks did not). And boy, what a difference it makes. It’s not quite as light when we wake up which doesn’t make too much difference when we’re bleary eyed until the second caffeine fix at the earliest. What does make a huge difference however is how light the nights are. It’s now light when we get home from work which makes us feel like doing things after work instead of simply slinking into our comfy clothes and staying in. Besides, we stayed in all winter so are ready and raring to make the most of the milder weather and light evenings.

So how will you make the most of the lighter nights? You could arrange to meet up with the friends you haven’t seen for a while and go out for dinner, the lighter nights will make your evening feel extended and not cut them short by everyone wanting to rush home as soon as the sun goes down. You could start a class, evening classes are great for those little things you might always wanted to have tried but never got round to; a new language; a new skill; a cookery course or even a dance class. With all this extra energy buzzing around why not put it to good use? The ever looming summer has started a health kick in the Bravissimo office and at homes and offices up and down the country to get fit for the beach. If you’re not a gym bunny however you can still look fabulous in Bravissimo swimwear with its figure flattering shape and boob boosting features in a range of bikinis, tankinis and swimsuits to suit every style. For a great look on the beach without the strict diet and extreme exercise regime!

We think you’ll be hula-ing down the beach in the Pink Hibiscus bikini by Free. This stunning halterneck bikini top has ruched sides so you can adjust the fullness of the cups. Miss Mandalay brings a spot of sailor chic to the beach with the Harbour Bikini. This fabulous nautical inspired bikini creates a boob uplifting effect with its chevron stripes whilst the plunge shape turns an optical effect into a real boob boosting effect.

The Azure Tankini by Pour Moi is the perfect alternative to a bikini. The tankini top has cups that are similar in shape to a bikini style top but has extra coverage for those who prefer to leave a little more to the imagination. This style looks great worn with tie side briefs that match the top’s tie detail centre and the striking ocean blue colour is bang on trend for the season. Love the colour? This style is also available in a bikini version.

The bandeau style and keyhole front create a glamorous look. No tricks are needed with this stunning circus print bikini

Whether you’ve planned your summer holiday yet or not this year you’ll be counting down the days until your jollies with our gorgeous new range of swimwear. If you’re a bikini, tankini or swimsuit girl, we have something for everyone.

Unleash your wild side with the Safari Halter Bikini by Pureda. The lightly padded cups give fantastic cleavage and great support, plus the added benefit of the fabric adjusters on the straps means that you control how much coverage you have. Choose from classic briefs or fold over briefs with contrasting black fabric to complete the look.

The circus range by Freya comes with more options than you can shake a lion tamer’s stick at! The Circus print is a fun patchwork inspired print that is bold, colourful and will get you noticed for all the right reasons. There is a choice of a bra style top with underwiring or a soft cup triangle top. For the bottom half choose from classic styled briefs in complementing blue polka dot or printed briefs with blue polka dot fold over detailing.

If you prefer a little more coverage however, you could try a tankini as they provide more cover but are also more fun and less awkward on the beach than a full swimsuit. The Loren tankini by Panache in bold, bright and on trend blue is just what the doctor ordered. The underwires in the tankini top will give you great support whilst the extra fabric covers the tummy for those who prefer to keep this area under wraps. Go for the ruched briefs which have a plain blue front to break up the print or tie side briefs which allow you to adjust coverage.  This range is also available in a bikini so you can mix and match tops and bottoms to your heart’s content.

We also have a range of fabulous swimsuits from the classy black and white lines of the Taylor swimsuit with its clever slimming panel design to the luxurious paisley print of the Kashmir swimsuit. The new Anna swimsuit by Panache is simple yet effective; the plain black design will look just as good at the pool as it will on the beach. With an underwire fit, clasp back fastening and adjustable straps you’re guaranteed a great fitting and comfortable swimsuit to wear whenever and wherever, although we reckon a beach in the Bahamas would probably be our first choice!

Post Christmas health kick

Over indulged this Christmas? Then you’re probably one of many starting a New Year health kick. You might want to loose weight, get fit or both however drastic changes to diet and exercise might work short term but if you’re serious about loosing weight and keeping it off you should really think about your long term goals. Plus taking on too much at once could result in a quick defeat therefore it’s often better to set yourself small goals to boost your morale whilst on the road to a healthier you. If exercise is your main aim try a few different sports and classes, you don’t have to go to the gym if you don’t enjoy it. There are plenty of other sports, classes and clubs you could get involved with without being in a gym environment. If you’re forcing yourself to do an activity you don’t really enjoy then you’re more likely to give up so take the time to try a few different things and see what appeals to you. Get a friend to go with you for moral support/friendly competition or be brave and try something yourself, plus sports clubs and classes are a great way to meet new people. A new hobby and new friends, now there’s a resolution we think we could stick to!

Often the biggest factor acting against us when it comes to regular exercise is time. We often feel like we just don’t have the time to exercise, so we have to get creative;

  • Walk instead of taking the car, a short walk to the shop will burn calories and get our heart rate going. Make it a brisk walk on the way there and a slower pace on the way back as you won’t want to loose your shopping to over enthusiastic arm pumping. Plus the extra weight of the shopping will work out your arm muscles too!
  • Get up half an hour earlier. During those extra few minutes in the morning you could go for a brisk walk, jog or cycle and the extra adrenaline will keep you going all day. It seems like a contradiction that if you expend energy you will have more but it is true, try it for a week and see for yourself.
  • Make the most of your children’s game consoles and invest in some exercise games; from yoga to dance and you can do it in the privacy of your own home!
  • Get the right equipment to protect your equipment. If you do want to take up a new sport then make sure you properly protect your assets with a good fitting sports bra. Boobs, especially of the larger variety, can be put under a lot of stress and strain when participating in sports so avoid unnecessary injury and get a sports bra. We also feel more serious about the sport we’re doing when we’re wearing the right gear. Be it a sports bra, swimsuit, gym gear or something more specialised, it gives us an extra confidence boost and motivation to try that little bit harder.

New swimwear

Whether you’re planning a last minute getaway, a cheeky spa break or simply need a new swimsuit for the pool, we think you should check out our fab new range of swimwear. Plus, unlike many high street stores we sell our tops and bottoms separately so you get the best possible fit and we stock swimwear all year round making it easier for you to find what you want, when you want!

Kashmir swimsuit

Kashmir swimsuit

Take Bo-ho glamour to another level with the fabulous, figure enhancing Kashmir swimsuit by Faubourg. The exotic print with contrasting blues and pinks sure make this swimsuit extra special and that doesn’t get you noticed the boob boosting properties of the halterneck tie and underwire cups most definitely will! Unleash your wild side with the Salvador snake skin bikini by Pureda. The hints of lime and turquoise give this bikini a fun twist whilst the clever fabric adjusters allow you to alter the fullness of the cups. If you prefer to cover up on the beach or at the pool, then we’d recommend trying a tankini. Tankinis combine a longer top and either brief or short bottoms, they are an ideal solution for those who are body conscious and like to keep their tummy covered. The Sun Seeker bikini and tankini allows you to mix and match between a bikini or tankini top and shorts or briefs bottoms so that you can get a set that you feel most comfortable in. The Acapulco swimsuit by Ballet hits the 50s vibe with its gorgeous jade green polka dot print and waist detail shape. This swimsuit also has built in secret support to shape the tummy, bum and bust. With adjustable straps and ties to alter the leg length we think this might just be the most versatile swimsuit we’ve ever had! Wear pool side or on the beach with big sunglasses and an even bigger hat to work the 50s glamour puss look to the max.

Amazing Grace

Grace Style Swimsuit

Grace Style Swimsuit

She was one of the style icons of the 50’s, a successful actress who went on to be a Princess, the stuff of dreams (or of a Hollywood script). But Grace Kelly remained grounded despite her fame and will be remembered as one of the darlings of the 1950’s. Her impeccable dress sense will long be admired by women everywhere and as we consistently revisit the 50’s for style inspiration we know we can rely on Kelly to remind us how to dress with style.

How to get the Grace Kelly look;

  1. Keep things understated with not a drop of bling in sight, this look is classy not flashy.
  2. Embrace your curves with hour glass silhouettes and high waist skirts and trousers. The classic A-line shape will also help to balance a top heavy figure. Get the look with our classic floral dress, spot print dress or striped cotton dress, perfect for summer parties.
  3. Cropped trousers and chinos are making a come back, wear yours the Grace way with an oversized shirt tucked in and a pair of espadrilles for easy summer days.
  4. Be careful with your colour choices and when wearing a bold colour ensure it’s the centre piece and not a mismatch of other colours and prints. This 50’s icon would probably stay well away from this season’s graphic print dresses but might wear the trend as a silk scarf instead for a more subtle adaptation of the trend.
  5. And finally, a pair of great sunglasses for ultimate Hollywood Glamour, just add a smattering of red lipstick and you’re good to go!

Grace Kelly’s classic looks and amazing wardrobe are now being celebrated in an exhibition at the V&A museum London. The exhibition is on now until the 26th September go to www.vam.ac.uk for more details.
