This summer the T-shirt is back. Yes, we know it never went away, but it’s been reinvented in a few guises for 2012. There’s the Crop Tee (Madonna circa eighties), the Fishtail Tee, the Oversized Tee, the Tunic Tee and the Drop Hem Tee. And to add yet more fashion confusion the T-shirt is not only available in cotton, there’s chiffon, silk, sequinned and the original retro printed Tee. You name it; it’s out there on the high street.

We can’t help you with which T-shirt to choose out of that lot, but we can help you with fantastic T-shirt bras that will keep your boobs supported, whilst creating a smooth silhouette and a great shape.

The Rebecca Bra by Fantasie is a new T-shirt bra, it is an underwired balconette and contains clever foam technology that makes the moulded cups, soft, smooth, light, breathable and comfortable. One reviewer said: “I cannot recommend this bra highly enough, good solid band, lovely smoothing cups, the fabric is gorgeous and it has a little bit of detail which is nice for a “plain” bra. I love it.” The Rebecca Bra also has some pretty geometric detailing, which is a nice touch on a T-shirt bra. It is available in white and nude and comes with matching briefs or a thong.

We know there are many Deco fans and not wanting to disappoint, we are pleased to give you the Deco Bra by Freya in denim (which is a great new colourway). It is a moulded underwired plunge and has the gorgeous added detail of stab-stitch satin bows. It has boosting boob qualities that really make a difference. If you wear a lower cut top, it will keep your boobs in place perfectly with no overspill, and if you are wearing a regular tee shirt it still creates an amazing rounded and smooth shape. Simple and perfectly formed is how we would describe the Deco. It is available in black and nude, are there are matching shorts and thong.

The T-shirt is a hot trend for this summer, whether it’s cropped, slouchy & baggy, or one with a slogan. The T-shirt was initially created from an undergarment used in the 19th century, through cutting the one-piece “union suit” underwear into separate top and bottom garments. The T-shirt has had a long and varied history, it was worn by miners in the late 19th century, because it was perfect to be worn in hot environments. The US navy then issued them as regulation garments during the Spanish-American war. After World War II, veterans began wearing the T-shirt casually with their uniform trousers. Marlon Brando who starred in A Street Car Named Desire in the early 1950s, really made the T-shirt a cool piece of clothing and that’s when it became fashionable as outerwear. In the late 1960s the T-shirt started to be used as an art medium, decorated with bright graphics, cartoon characters and slogans. They could display a political protest, a love of a particular rock band or a souvenir of a holiday destination, like the iconic ‘I ❤ NY’. In the eighties Katherine Hamnett designed her famous outsize slogan T-shirts, like the famous CHOOSE LIFE T-shirt (worn by George Michael of Wham), and NO WAR and SAVE THE WORLD.
